CHASEPOINT #12
Des Plaines River
With the sun struggling to rise above the tree line, teams made their way from the Rosemont transit stop to the end of a Bryn Mawr Avenue where they were greeted by Nick Jelinek and nine canoes.
THE VOTE
Before grabbing their gear and starting their journey down stream teams first had to pause and think strategically. Teams each spent a mandatory 10 minute rest period ranking their fellow teams in the order that they would like to see help provided. In typical Bell City Chase fashion the participants had know idea as to when or how this information would be used.
THE PADDLE
The 9 teams remaining in the race had to portage their canoes to the Des Plains River where they embarked on a 22km paddle to the take out. Teams having not slept in over 24 hours and having just endured a very cold night of activities, took extra precaution on their journey.

Team Ottawa, originally arriving on the wrong side of the river, was the last team to arrive. They found no canoe and were told that they had been Chased Out!

Team Vancouver ran into some difficulty with their canoe launch and ended up rather wet. After persevering for nearly 3 hours on the cold river, Mike and Jen could not have been happier to see the ChasePoint staff. The pair rested and regained their strength for nearly 30 minutes before moving on to the Brookfield Zoo.
THE QUIZ
After safely landing their canoes and before continuing to the next ChasePoint teams were tested on the information provided during the Architectural Walking Tour they took the night before. For each wrong answer given, teams served a time penalty.
