CHASEPOINTS BREAKDOWN

CP1- PLACE JAMA EL FNA: Teams began the 2008 World Championships at Garden La Menara. They where stripped of personal items and instructed to run to Jama El Fna, where they had to look for a “water seller “who would provide them with their first clue.

CP2 – TANNERY: In order to complete this ChasePoint, teams had to tan horse hides using traditional Moroccan techniques. Once each team had 10 skins cleaned and tanned, they then had to search amongst a pile of hides for their next clue. With 12 teams and only 11 clues to be found, the final team could not find a clue and thus was eliminated.

CP3 – HAMMAM: At this ChasePoint, teams experienced the Hamman - a very physical Moroccan style massage.

CP4 – GOAT HEAD: After their massage, teams were treated to the traditional Moroccan meal of Goat Head - a delicacy in Morocco.

CP5 – PALMERY: Teams had to run through the Souks of la Medina while carrying a foot long palm tree.. Once at La Palmeraie, they had to work together to plant their tree.

CP6 – BUSKING: At this ChasePoint teams dazzled curious onlookers, by performing belly dancing, miming or juggling

CP7 – SNAKE CHARMER: Teams had to face their fears, and charm hundreds of snakes. With one partner blindfolded, the other had to direct their blindfolded teammate to reach into a snake filled aquarium to find their next clue.

CP8 – TAXI RIDE TO ESSAOUIRA: Using the money earned while busking, teams had to convince a local to drive them to Essaouira.

CP9 – LIVING WITH LOCALS: Teams had to solve an Arabic phonetic clue, which gave them an address to a local Moroccan residence (2 hour taxi ride away). They then had to find the house, and spend the night with the family.

CP10 – CAPTURE THE FLAG: In order to complete this ChasePoint, teams had to race through the streets of Essaouira looking for flags hidden on rooftops. They then had to scale buildings to reach the flags and get their next clue.

CP 11 – RAPPEL: Facing their fear of heights, teams had to rappel down a hotel to the terrace below.

CP12 - FISHERMAN FOR A DAY: Stepping into the role of a local fisherman, teams were challenged to a boat and crab obstacle course.

CP13 – CAMEL RACE: Chasers rode the back of a camel and raced through the desert.

CP14- QUAD: At this ChasePoint, teams were given 4wheeler ATV's and had to navigate their way through Moroccan sand dunes.

CP15 – FINDING YOUR GOAT: At this ChasePoint, teams had to find and catch a goat. The last team to successfully do this was eliminated.

CP16 –TRUCK RIDE: Once teams had successfully contained their goat, they had to hitch a ride with a passing pick-up truck, and take their goat to a local butcher shop. Chasers were mislead to believe that they would have to kill the goat themselves (and to decide if they would agree to do so or not), but in fact when they arrived at the butcher, they were very relieved to find that this was not the case.

CP17- At this ChasePoint, teams had to find the new Marrakech Train Station. They then had to use a fire truck's ladder to climb up the side of a 30meter building. Once at the top, they had to carry a dummy on a zip line down the 30 feet that they had just climbed up.

CP18 –MOROCCAN AMBIANCE: Teams were shown a picture of a fancy Moroccan room, and then had to recreate the exact scene using real furniture and props.

CP19 – MOROCCAN TRADES: Once their set up was approved, teams were instructed to navigate to the Medina, where they were told to create a work of art. This art was then judged by local artisans, and the Chasers could not continue on until the artisan had given the masterpiece a passing grade.

CP20 – JEEPS: Teams traveled in 4X4's to their next location. The last team to arrive was eliminated.

CP21 – LA FLOUKA: The second night in the Chase was spent sleeping outside in a typical Moroccan Berber tent. Teams shared these tents with competing teams, but not before enjoying a hearty Moroccan meal.

CP22 – CANOEING: After limited sleep, teams were woken up (at 4am!!) and shuttled up the OURIKA river. Once at the mouth, they had to race down the white water R2 and R3 rapids.

CP23 – ZIP LINE: At this ChasePoint, teams had to hope for no vertigo, as they repelled a dam, 80 meters down.

CP24 – BIKE RIDE: Based on their rankings, teams were given a staggered start time, and were told to bike to “The Farm; a 24km bike ride down a scenic Marrakech road.

CP25 – DONKEY OBSTACLE COURSE: Upon arrival at the farm, teams had to lead a donkey through an obstacle course and then bike back to Marrakech.

CP26 – FASHION SHOW: Teams were told to coordinate a fashion show with models, stylists and professional judges!

CP27- URBANATHALON: In the final leg of the race, teams raced through the streets of Marrakech on foot, searching for the much anticipated City Chase World Championships Finish Line!!!

FINISH LINE – As their final clue, teams were told to race to Place de Jamaa El Fna, where they found the 2008 City Chase World Championships Finish Line.
